Proximal Femoral Nail (PFN)
The short femoral nail is used for small stature.
- Pertrochanteric fractures
- Intertrochanteric fractures
- High subtrochanteric fractures
Contraindications
- Low subtrochanteric fractures
- Femoral shaft fractures
- Isolated or combined medial femoral neck fracture
Long PFN Indications
- Low and extended subtrochanteric fractures
- Ipsilateral trochanteric fractures
- Combination of fractures (trochanteric area/shaft)
- Pathological fractures Contraindications
- Isolated or combined medial femoral neck fracture
- The nails are available in ⌀ 9, 10, 11 and 12mm; short nails in sizes 180mm to 240mm; Long nail, both left and right in sizes 320 to 460mm
- Interlocking cannulated bone screw, ⌀ 8.0mm, Lengths 60 to 120mm
- Interlocking cannulated bone screw, ⌀ 6.3mm, Length 60 to 120mm
- End cap 0 to 15mm provided with nail
- Anatomical 6degree ML angle
- CCD angle 130 degree/ 135 degree
- Distal Locking bolt , ⌀ 4.9mm ; Length 22 mm to 50mm (<2mm>) & Length 55 to 80 mm(<5mm variation in size)
