Distal Femur

At Sorath, we are proud to introduce our innovative product line for managing femur fractures, featuring the Marc 2 Technology Nail. This advanced solution is designed to address the complexities associated with femoral fractures, providing orthopaedic surgeons with reliable tools to enhance patient outcomes. The Marc 2 Technology offers a cutting-edge nailing system that delivers superior interfragmentary compression and secure fixation for femoral fractures.

Hyper Distal Interlocking Nail for Femoral Bone Marc 2

Hyper Distal Interlocking Nail for Femoral Bone Marc 2 is intended to stabilise fractures of the distal femur and the femoral shaft, including:

  • Supracondylar fractures, including those with intra-articular extension
  • Combination of ipsilateral condylar and diaphyseal fractures
  • Ipsilateral femur/tibia fractures
  • Femoral fractures in multiple trauma patients
  • Periprosthetic fractures
  • Fractures in the morbidly obese
  • Fractures in osteoporotic bone
  • Impending pathologic fractures
  • Malunions and nonunions
Features
Tri-Plane Distal Locking System

  • Tri-plane cross-locking fixation with interlocking screws provides optimal stability
  • Four distal locking holes offer more options for managing complex distal femoral fractures

Anatomically Optimized Nail

  • The nail’s anatomic contour replicates the natural shape of the femur, aiding surgeons in restoring the bone to its original form
  • Larger diameter nails incorporate a fluted design to reduce stiffness and ensure easy insertion
  • Anterior bevel tips are designed to facilitate smooth navigation through the medullary canal.
  • Universal nail for both left and right femur bones

Secure Fixation Utilizing a star-drive mechanism to ensure maximum torque transmission and improved self-containment.Threaded interlocking screw head recess for secure attachment with cannulated screwdriver using Screw holding shaft
Hyper Distal Interlocking Nail for Femoral Bone

The Hyper Distal Interlocking Nail is indicated for the stabilization of fractures of the Distal Femur. It can also be used for diaphyseal fractures in which a retrograde approach is indicated (e.g. ipsilateral tibia and patella fractures, proximal or distal endoprosthesis, adiposities per Magna

As per AO classification, following types of fractures

  • Fractures of type 33-A1 to A3
  • Fractures of type 33-C1 to C3.1
  • Fractures of type 32-A to C

Contraindications :

Fractures of type 33-B, 33-C3.2 and 33-C3.3 Proximal femoral fractures and high subtrochanteric fracture

Features
  • Hyper Distal Femoral Nail gives us a distal locking option with one blade (45mm to 100mm, five mm variation) and one interlocking Bone Screw ⌀6.0 mm (40 to 100mm, five mm variation)  used for patients with an osteoporotic bone structure and/or extensive and complex supra-condylar comminuted fracture areas. The increased purchase area of the blade provides an optimised load distribution in the condyles and improves fixation of the distal fragment thus decreasing the risk of nail protrusion into the knee joint
  • Proximal locking for nails of 160 – 240 mm in length is done using two interlocking Screws, 4.9 mm which is inserted laterally
  • Nails of 300 mm or more are provided with a static hole in the lateral direction, and a static hole and a dynamic locking slot in the AP direction
  • The End cap for Hyper Distal Femoral Nail is available in lengths of 0 mm (seats flush with the proximal end of the nail), 5 mm, 10 mm, 15 mm and 20 mm (provide proximal extension to the nail by the nominal length mentioned) and End cap for Hyper Distal Femoral Nail with Pin 0 mm. They prevent bone ingrowth into the nail & extend the nail length if indicated
